Heart Scarves

Heart Scarves is a charity that collects crocheted or knitted ed scarves and distributes them to women hospitalized due to any type of heart disease or stroke. There is a wonerful article on them in the current issue of Crochet Today magazine on page 10. I am about to start working on some to send to them since my grandmother, mother and myself all have heart disease. I think would be a great way to honor my grandmother who passed from it in 1996.

My current work in progress list: (I get bored doing one thing all the time so I tend to work on many projects at once)

Halloween & Christmas wreaths are crocheted, I just have to put them together.

Baggie Cat I started a few months ago??? Don't know why I can't seem to finish that one.

Spiral granny square, just have to frame it and display it somewhere.

King size granny square afghan for my bed. Just started this one.

Party dress for Amelia's first birthday in October. Just started this one as well.

Many Christmas ornaments and decorations for gifts since money is tight this year. Been. Working on these a while.

So, as you can see, I have been and will continue to be very busy for the.next few months.

Dress for Amelia

This is a dress I crocheted for Amelia. She still has to grow quite a bit before she can wear it. I like making her stuff bigger sizes. That way she can wear them longer.

Just an update on me

Okay, I know I've said numerous times that I wasn't feeling well. I went to the doctor last week and so far I have been puton blood pressure meds, today they added 40mg of Lipitor and on the 29th she will most likely give.me Synthroid for my hypothyroidism. Artherosclerosis and heart disease runs heavy in every generation of my family on Dad's side way back to my my greatx3 grandmother. So my doctor is trying to nip it in the bud while I'm still kind of young (38).
I just wanted to share that with all of to let you know I am fine and being taken care of.

I downloaded quite a few holiday decorations patterns and will be starting on the ASAP! Just to name a few: crocheted Halloween, Christmas, Spring and 4th ot July wreaths, dishclothes for tue same holidays, and stuffed decorations for the same holidays!!

Spiral grannies framed art WIP.

I have finally decided on what to do with the squares I have bewn making. I am going to stich these four together and frame it for my living room.

The rest of them will make up a large mixed color afghan for my bed.

I have lots of art of different styles, so why not add my own crocheted pieces to the collection...

I will post a pic when it is finished and framed.

Amelia's Sweetheart Scarf is done.

As I mentioned before, I purchased this pattern on Etsy.(see archives) I made it alot smaller for my 8 month old grand daughter, Amelia. I also decided to trim it with a cream color to give it a more finished apperance. I think it turned out really nice and I'm sure it will keep her warm this winter.

So, I was thinking...

I think I will be making an afghan out of the spiral granny squares. Maybe 2, one for fall (halloween colors) and one for winter (christmas colors)

My predicament is, there are 4 colors to each spiral so what colors do I use? fall (halloween) would be black and orange and winter (christmas) would be red, green and white. so i still need two more colors for the fall one, and one more for the winter one.

Either way, I will most likely need to buy whatever yarn I need since I wiped out my old stash with last winters scrap afghans.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Spiral granny squares

I found a free pattern for these on Crochet Me (I think...)

These are the first two I have made. They were fun to make and want to make a bunch more. The thing is that originally, I made these two to frame as art. I like the way they turned out and so I made a bunch... So, what should I do with the rest???

Another question is, when I frame them, do I put them each in their own frame or together, and do I frame other types of grannies as well? Your input is very much appreciated.

Happy Hookin'!!!

TURKEYZILLA is finally FINISHED!

I had so much fun making this bag. I love how it turned out but the legs are a little crooked but otherwise it's adorable.

Now, do I keep it or give it to one of my nieces for a gift?

Next project? Hmmm, haven't decided. Any ideas or suggestions?

Been so busy the last week.

I have been so busy the last week. School, sick kids, sick grandbaby, Dr. appts., and crazy stuff from every direction... I have been queezing in a few minutes of crocheting here and there. I am almost done with the Turkeyzilla Tote. All I have to do is make the strap and assemble the whole thing. I can't wait. I think it's going to be so cute! I will post a picture of the finished product as soon as it's done.

Also, be on the lookout for a giveaway! My dear crochet/blogging friend, Doris, has inspired me to do one as well.

Have a great Monday and Happy Hookin'!

Back to school today...

Well, I started my 3rd of 6 semesters today and it went great. Thiw will be a pretty laid back semester which is great after having just completed medical cience, medical theory and technique, and computerized keyboarding last semester. This term it's all the "business type" classes aboit computers, forms, letters, charting and HIPAA laws. It should be fairly easy and fun, a nice break before we jump back into the next 3 semesters of medical classes again. I am so loving being in school again. I only wish I would have done it sooner. However, God zhas us do things when it's time to do them, soI'm sure it was meant to be this way all along. Have a great week everyone and Happy Hump Day, we're half way to the weekend again!!! Yay!

I'm not crazy...

Please. Excuse the crazy typing errors, while my pc is down I am blogging from my touch screen phone and I'm not a "pro" like my teenage kids. LOL. :)

Turkeyzilla... WIP

Okay, so I finished the "body" of the turkey so I got really excited because I thougt I was almost done. Then I realized I have to make Another "body" to line the inside to make it sturdy... So I am back at it making the second one. So I figured ince I may not have it complete to post this weekend, I wouod post pictures in stages as it progresses. Enjoy.

Happy 4th of July

I just wanted to post really quick and say Happy Independence Day to all my readers. I hope that you all have a very safe and happy celebration this weekend. Remember during all the fireworks, parties, barbques or picinics; to say a little thank you prayer for all the troops who have in the past and those who are still fighting for our freedom!

God bless and,be safe!

Crocheted Tote

This is tote bag I crocheted for myself. It came from an old pattern I foundin my stash. It was supposed to be a purse, however, since the straps are so "stretchy" I am using it for a crochet tote. I carry my WIP in it wherever I go. Now, a question for my readers: Does anyone know a way to "stiffen up" the crocheted straps of a tote? I followed the pattern exactly but they still stretch way too much when I put stuff in it. Is there something different that I can do on my next tote to prevent this? I really love the look and style of this tote so I was totally heartbroken when I put my belongings into and realized I hhad a problem. You can just imagine the disappointment...

Everyone needs a "Yarn Buddy"!

This is my youngest niece, Jade Lillith; aka: Lillie. She's a sweetie and is such a big help. Today she decided to wind all my scrap yarn into neat little balls! I probably should have done it a long time ago. After watching me fight to find the colors I wanted to use out of my scrap bin, she said it was time to get it organized, and so it began.
