Trying to teach myself to knit.... again.

Well, this makes my third attempt in the last few years to tea h myself to knit. I am actually making some progress this time; I've learned to do the knit stitch and the purl stitch within just a week. I have been looking at free You Tube videos for beginners and it has helped tremendously. However, as you can see by the picture, my scarf is rolling up along the sides. It actually looks like a tube, I just unrolled some of it for the picture. The stitches are consistent, and not too tight or loose. I am wondering if blocking this will work as it does in crochet?

If anyone knits and can offer me any tips, I would greatly appreciate it. No one else in my family and friends circle does crafts, so I'm kind of on my own.

Well, when knitting a scarf, it's better to use super thick and bulky yarn and large needles if you want to make it in a stockinette stitch ...but, you can prevent it from curling so much if you begin and end each row with two or three pearl stitches (on each side) - that sometimes helps, but since you already started, just continue and then just block it after it's completed and/or crochet a border around it.
